Dear Shark friends,
Only just now I received the sad news that last Friday, 3.6.2022, our friend Bodo “Mister Shark” Günther left for his last trip.
Bodo was a man of the first hour of the Shark24 in Europe. With seven other enthusiasts he founded the German Shark24 Class Association on 30.9.1976 in Friedrichshafen. After that, he developed into the engine of the community by soon taking over the sales. Initially for the ships from Austrian and Swedish production.
After production in Austria was discontinued in 1989, he acquired the license to manufacture the Shark24 from ISCA. Despite great adversity and financial losses, it was a matter close to his heart to supply us with brand new Sharks. This era is most likely ending now. The last new Shark24 in history probably bears the construction number 2022.
For his tireless commitment to his baby Shark24, he was awarded the George Hinterhoeller Award in 2001 as one of only five winners by the International Shark24 Class Association. As part of our celebration of the 40th anniversary of our class association in 2016, we had appointed Bodo as our honorary member.
We will always remember him with gratitude.
In deep sorrow
Your
Horst
