Hi all,
It’s been a year now since I
agreed to step in to Bill Henderson’s shoes and take on the challenge of
Web Master for Shark Bytes our class web site. I’ve gone through a
steep learning curve but with support from Bill and Ivan Amery I’ve been
able to muddle my way through it.
I have no experience to compare
things to but according to those that do, the summer of 2004 was a slow
one with few pictures and articles being submitted. I think the
appearance of Romany, my boat, as shark of the week in August may have
caused a stir, but shortly after the number of submission started to
increased. This has given me a much better selection of items for shark
of the week. Please keep the picture and articles coming.
For the first year, my focus was
maintaining the status quo but now that I’ve had a chance to adapt to
the many nuances of the site, the next task is cleanup. My aim is to
maintain Shark Bytes as one of the premier One Design web site out
there. If you have any ideas or comments about the website, good or
bad, please share them with me. I can be reached via email through any
one of the number of links on the web site to
webmaster@shark24.org
Although my original schedule
had me completing the cleanup by launch 2005 I guess working on a
sailing web site is not much different than sailing itself. Thing just
never seem to happen as you planned them. It looks like a more
reasonable schedule will see various parts of the website being cleaned
up and available for you to surf slowly throughout 2005 with the
Boatyard ready by mid March.
Well that’s about it,
Tony
Web Master
