(Seaforth is a "new sighting" for us and since there will be many sailors out there who will have 'fond memories" of her we thought Don's letter should be shared with you all)SeaforthFrom - donmack@ra.isisnet.com "I live in Halifax (Fall River) but the Shark (Seaforth) is in my dad's back yard in Charlottetown. I'll take a look under the tarp the next time I am over there and get you the hull number. We bought the boat in 1983 in Prince Edward Island and took it here to Nova Scotia to sail out of the Dartmouth Yacht Club. We found that since Rose (wife) and I loved to go "Home" to PEI most weekend in the summe rthat the boat should be over there. So in 1986 we moved to the Charlottetown Yacht Club. About five years ago we moved it to" The Quartermaster Marine" in Charlottetown where we have a finger. The boat is enjoyed by us ( two children as well, Morgan and Mark) and many friends all summer. Charlottetown is a small town and as far as we can tell it was one of the first glass boats to belong to the Charlottetown Yach Club back in the early 60's. It was owned by a Dr. Grant in those days. Most Charlottetown racers in the 30-45 age group learned to sail on the boat so it is well liked. We do little racing now but the shark does a great deal of sailing. We have toured Nourthumberland Straight from one end to the other. Like all shark sailors we love it when the wind comes up and all the Tanzer have to go in. Don, Rose, Morgan, and Mark MacKenzie" |
