SharkBytes and the Shark Fleet need YOU!

SharkBytes is now attracting over 300 visitors a day and we are receiving, reading, researching and responding to a growing number of individual email messages (over 200 last month)  - but we are "falling behind" with every day!

SharkBytes success is evidence of the vitality of the Fleet but we are supported only by the dedication of a very few volunteers and, unless we can "spread the load" among the Fleet as a whole, our service to Shark sailors everywhere, and especially to those located away from the "self supporting" camaraderie of the established yacht clubs, will suffer.

The Boat Yard's Shark Mart, with its "self posted" lists of Sharks and equipment wanted and available for sale, is by far the most active section of SharkBytes.  This has proven the value of the "interactive" approach but this popularity and success has not, as yet, extended to Shark Talk's fully "interactive" Discussion Groups, where sailors can pose problems and exchange advice and experience directly.  As a result, individual owners and sailors have become increasingly dependent on the SharkBytes Webmasters to research their problems and on email for the exchange of information.  Quite simply, we can't carry the load alone!

As a Fleet, with over 300 current member owners and well over 1000 active sailors, we have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.  We know Shark sailing, racing and cruising, boat care, restoration and maintenance, rigging and tuning, trailering and storage, all that good stuff.  Many of us, sailing in the "big fleets" out of well established Clubs and Sailing Centres,  can talk up these matters daily but not everyone is so lucky!

There are Shark owners and sailors out there who are on their own and who need us to "share the wealth" and we can do that by "talking together" through Shark Talk!  To make things a little easier we have reduced the number of Discussion Groups from 6 to 4 and have set up links to Net-Mind so you do not have to personally check every Group to see if you have a reply.

Please use Shark Talk!

(several requests for help and advice, recently received via email,  have been posted there already and are waiting for your reponses)

We will monitor these discussions and, from time to time, will extract "selected" sessions for more permanent reference in  The Library and The Workshop.
