Warning to all buyers and seller of boats
and other articles on SharkBytes
It seems that SharkBytes is not immune to Internet scams
artist. Although none have been successful that we are aware of, we have
had a few reported incidences.
The two case we are aware of are outlined below by the good
folks that reported them:
1) hello,
thanks for the mail,
my Client has expressed satisfaction and okayed the boat after viewing the
pictures he said they are really great and the price at which you accepted on
selling it out; apparently, needs the boat soon as possible and as such, has
instructed I carry-on with the transaction. The payment will get to you in
a Cashier check of$16,000,which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier
made by him. He informed me, he intends making payment to you with the Check via
the refund company. The reason for this is that, there were defects on
previous order he made for some goods, so needed to call for the cancellation of
that order and filed for a refund of his money. In-as-much-as this money is
being refunded, due to company policy, this Check has to be made out in this
amount $16,000;owing to the fact that company policy allows a refund payment on
one Cashier Check only. Considerably, you are required to deduct cost of
your boat $9,300. when the payment gets to you and make available $6,700,which
is the balance after your reduction to my client's shipping agent via money
transfer, to enable them offset cost of delivery and other relative expenses
that may emanate in the course of their task (during delivery of the boat).
Note: you are required also to deduct the cost of money transfer charges from
the balance and send the rest to the shipper as advised. All the
information needed in this- transaction will be forwarded to you, including the
shipper / Pick-up agent's -information as soon as you receive the payment
package. After payment has reached you and balance sent to the shipper, the
shipper is responsible to contact the pick-up agent who will come to pick the
boat in your area of location, while you send the title papers and other
necessary documents to my client via a Courier. The pick-up agent will
take care of the courier cost when he comes to your area to pick the boat.
Please confirm this and provide payment information for Check
payment to be delivered to you via Courier..
Payment Information:
2) Two weeks ago I posted a boat on you site and to my
surprise received two fairly quick offers. The fist seemed a bit pushy but
simply a guy looking for a very cheap boat (offer of $1200). The second seemed
more like some type of money scam where he had everything arranged and was
willing to pay $3500US to have a $4000 boat shipped as long as I could pay the
shipping fees which of course he would cover later. I know that things are a
little wild out here in cyber world (not to worry I have no intention of sending
money) but I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble with odd offers as a
result of posting a boat on your site. After all, I sail a shark, I am not
looking to be taken by one. (or have anyone else taken)
