Worlds 2003 Day 1
or Where in the Worlds is Bart?
Cowabunga sailors! It's regatta time. Bart here, your roving
reporter, safely arrived after a long drive that required immense quantities
of Tim's coffee just to keep the old eyes open. (When you have eyes this
big, it takes a lot of java). Everything's in tip top working order here
in Ottawa. Everybody's sooo friendly and efficient.
Did a little partying on the committee boat on Sunday, until
they lashed me to the boom. They ran a spiffy little practice race and
then a practice for the long distance race that counted. Seven of the
longest legs on the shortest race course. When the wind went around the
back door, the last finishers had the choice of finishing with their spinnakers
or backing over the line in preparation for the dash to the dock before
the storm hit.
They gave a Hinterhoeller Award to my friend Bill Henderson
because he's a real good guy and posts my picture on the web. No wait
a minute, I think there was another reason. Can't remember, there was
free beer. Then there was my favourite part, the flag race. The flag pole
won. Nobody got their flags to the top before their anthem ended.
That's me in the middle of the picture of the Canadian team.
Now it's back to the bar for free beer, no, wait minute. This isn't the
way to the bar. Where are you taking me? Help!!....
May be continued.
